"Main aim should not be superiority;it should be humanity."

Dr. Faustus is a play written by Christhopher Marlowe. This is a fantastic story which is based on superiority. A doctor who wants to be a perfect human and a devil power which can give the doctor whatever he wants. Of course, everything has an end and you have to pay a price. But,the most important thing is ,unfortunately,to become regretful as the doctor.

Dr. Faustus’ knowledge is not enough for him to feel perfectly. He wants to know everything;even the unsolveable problems in the world. He wants to have supernatural features which include invisibility. Then he finds a devil power , Lucifer. Making deal with devil is not an intellegent movement , but Faustus loses his own ego and perfection. He makes deal with Lucifer. According to deal,Doctor will reach perfection. He can do whatever he want. But this deal will lead 24 years . After this 24 years, his soul will be owned by Lucifer. Throughtout this time,he makes everything. He becomes invisible. He is a superhuman anymore. In this time, there is a good angel to direct Doctor in a good way . Moreover, there is an evil angel as well. As a consequence,at the end of the 24 years, while doctor is giving his soul,he becomes regretful and it is too late to feel this way.
Everything in this world is temporary things. Superiority, perfection etc. Actually, these kind of topics are very good to read and proggres our imagination. But in real life, main aim should not be superiority;it should be humanity.

“Brevity is the soul of wit.”

This week,I was absent in the English Literature Lesson, because my doctor said to me need an endoscopic examination on account of my ilness. I caught the last ten minutes of lesson,so I could see only the last page of slide. “For Sale : Baby Shoes,Never Worn.”  When I saw this sentence,it was very intrigued.

I searched this sentence inquisitorially and I had some information about this. Actually, this sentence is a six-word story written by Ernest Hemingway. The baby shoes story was referred to as a "short-short" story, but the general idea of trying to tell a story with minimum words is now known by the term of flash fiction or sudden fiction. Flash fiction is a style of fantastic literature and fiction of extreme brevity.

When I searched more and more,I came across some “short-short” stories. I want to share some of them.

“Failed SAT. Lost scholarship. Invented rocket.” By William Shatner

“Sorry ,love : Heartbreak is more interesting.” Anonymous

“Cellar?”
“Gate to,uh…
hell,actually.” By Ronald D. Moore

“Two wives, one funeral, no tears.” By Desrio

“Buried in a steel casket. Immortal.” By Gen

“First heartbreak. Nineteen years wishing. Reunited!” By James Robson

“Tanline on his ring finger? Goodbye.” By Ruby

“Disputes between nations. Sorrow among families.” By Peter

When I am ending up my reflection paper,I want to say last thing summarising composition wholly. “Brevity is the soul of wit.”

First of all,I hope so this semester will be productive for everyone. If we work efficiently,it will. When I hear the lesson "English Literature",the first person coming into my mind is Oscar Wilde. I read his book "The Picture of Dorian Gray" approximately 3 years ago. It is the most impressive book I have ever read. ThePicture of Dorian Gray is the only published novel by Oscar Wilde. When examining literature in general manner,I like modern age of history and literature. But ancient time of literature and history don't draw attention on me. I have an interest in writing essays in Turkish and in English as far as in me lain. It exhilarates me,because writing something and finding myself in books are very good feeling. If I write something,I internalize them. Maybe as wrinting so much,I like literature very much. I hope I will enjoy this lesson as writing essays or something I experienced. I believe this semester will be productive for me and the others. I wish us all the best this semester.
